Hon. Rajiva Wijesinha,— To ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs,—
(a) Will he state —
(i) the number of Ambassadors and High Commissioners recalled following the assumption of the office by the present President;
(ii) the rationale for recalling them;
(iii) whether any assessment was done on their effectiveness prior to the recall;
(iv) the number of vacancies thus created were filled within three months; and
(v) the names, highest educational qualifications, seniority and the period as service in Sri Lanka and missions abroad separately of the officers nominated to the aforesaid vacancies?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the said nominees were Grade 1 officers fulfilling the requirements stipulated in Service Minute of the Sri Lanka Foreign Service; and
(ii) whether there are officers among them working in Missions abroad as at January 2015; and
(iii) whether there are officers in Grade 1 or senior than any one of the nominated list and currently not serving as Ambassadors or High Commissioners whose names are not in the said list ?
(c) If not why?
