Hon. Gitanjana Gunawardena, — To ask the Minister of Highways and Investment Promotion,—
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the number of Investment Promotion Zones in Sri Lanka;
(ii) separately of the year on which each of the aforesaid Investment Promotion Zones were established; and
(iii) whether special programmes have been implemented to minimise traffic congestions that occur in the aforesaid towns as a result of the location of the Investment Promotion Zones?
(b) Is he aware that —
(i) the traffic congestion in the Awissawella town increased with the establishment of the Seethawaka Investment Promotion Zone;
(ii) approximately 40% of the vehicles that enter and exit the aforesaid Investment Promotion Zone are driven towards Kegalle through Awissawella; and
(iii) plans have been formulated to build a bridge across the Seethawaka Ganga towards the Thaldoova area of the Kegalle District from the vicinity of the Industrial Park?
(c) Will he also inform this House whether action will be taken to build the aforesaid bridge, under the 'British Iron Bridge Project' ?
(d) If not, why?
