Hon S. Shritharan,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) the number of pre-schools located across the island;
(ii) whether there is a formal education system for pre-school children in Sri Lanka; and
(iii) the salary group under which the salary scheme of pre-school teachers is placed?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) the number of pre-schools in the Northern Province, especially in the Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts;
(ii) of these pre-schools, the number of pre-schools under the Department of Civil Security; and
(iii) the basis on which salaries are paid to the teachers teaching in them?
(c) Will he also inform this House whether—
(i) teachers associated with security forces can teach pre-school children who are about to commence school education;
(ii) this system is in operation in other parts of the country as well; and
(iii) he is aware that military insignias are affixed to uniforms of pre-school children?
(d) If not, why?
