Hon. Jayantha Samaraweera,— To ask the Minister of Justice,—
(a) Will he table—
(i) the number of Buddhist monks who were remanded on suspicion and who were imprisoned as offenders after having confirmed the allegations leveled against them during the period from the year 1948 to 08th January 2015 separately as per each year;
(ii) separately the allegation or the offence that led to remanding or the imprisonment of each monk who was either remanded or imprisoned; and
(iii) separately the time period during which each remanded or imprisoned monk was either remanded or imprisoned?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of Buddhist monks who were remanded during the period from 08.01.2015 to 31.03.2016;
(ii) separately of the allegations which were leveled against each monk who was remanded; and
(iii) separately of the time period during which each of the aforesaid monks were remanded?
(c) If not, why?
