Hon. Jayantha Samaraweera,— To ask the Minister of Justice,—
(a) Will he table —
(i) separately on per year basis from 04th February 1948 to 24th March 2016 the number of persons who have received death sentence or a life sentence; and
(ii) separately the name and address of each of the prisoners who have received death sentence or a life sentence and the nature of the offence each of them had committed for receiving such sentence?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether a special pardon has been offered to prisoners who had received death sentence or a life sentence; and
(ii) if so, separately of the names of the persons who offered such pardon to those prisoners, the dates on which such pardon was offered, and the nature of the crimes that had been committed by the recipients of such pardon?
(c) If not, why?
