Hon. Ajith Mannapperuma,—To ask the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy,—
(a) Will he inform this House of—
(i) the number of electricity consumers in Sri Lanka at present;
(ii) the number of consumers who have been provided with electricity connections by Ceylon Electricity Board, out of the number of electricity consumers in Sri Lanka; and
(iii) the number of consumers who have been provided with electricity connections by Lanka Electricity Company Private Limited?
(b) Will he also inform this House of—
(i) the objectives expected to be achieved through the Smart Metres that would be introduced to Sri Lanka as per a statement recently made by the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy;
(ii) the number of Smart Metres that have been installed by now; and
(iii) the date by which installation of Smart Metres for all electricity consumers in Sri Lanka is expected to be completed, as per the proposal in (i) above?
(c) If not, why?
