Hon. Rauf Hakeem,— To ask the Minister of Economic Development ,—
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) Mr. Abdul Samad (aged 38 years) residing at No. 159/D/47, Maligawatta place, Colombo 10, in Colombo Divisional Secretariat Division, is a person who has been an epileptic from birth ; and
(ii) he is a person who attends the clinic of Colombo National Hospital monthly under the registration number B/37/04 on the requirement of long term treatment for that condition ?
(b) Will he admit that this person has not been provided with Samurdhi benefit so far, eventhough the Hospital Health Development Assistant has recommended and requested through his letter bearing No: Ma/H/D/A/1/3/8 and dated 22.03.2008 and 30.11.2009 to the Samurdhi Officer of the area and Divisional Secretary of Colombo, this person to be provided with Samurdhi benefit as he is unable to engage in a permanent job due to his medical condition and lives in poverty due to lack of permanent income?
(c) If so, will he take measures immediately to provide Samurdhi benefits to Mr. Abdul Samad who is unmarried and his aged parents who live as his dependents?
(d) If not, why?
