Hon. Tharanath Basnayaka,— To ask the Minister of Environment,—
(a) Will he inform this House of—
(i) the number of invasive plant species indentified in Sri Lanka by now ;
(ii) the number of aquatic invasive plant species out of them ?
(b) Will he admit that the speedy growth and propagation of the aquatic invasive plant species cause blockage of drainage channels and flash floods?
(c) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether a proper progaramme is underway to restrain these aquatic invasive plant species or make use of them for a useful purpose; and
(ii) if so, what that programme is?
(d) If not, why?
