Hon. Sunil Handunnetti,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of complaints received by the Central Environmental Authority on environmental pollution of Matara district in year 2016;
(ii) in terms of classification of complaints, of the types of complaints, mostly recorded;
(iii) among the complaints received, of the number of complaints with regard to the institutions that obtained prior approval of the Central Environmental Authority;
(iv) whether aforesaid institutions have functioned in keeping with the laws and regulations of the Central Environmental Authority;
(v) whether investigations have been conducted on environmental pollution caused by factories and metal crushers in Matara Municipal Council area;
(vi) of the institutions which were investigated by the Central Environmental Authority in connection with water pollution caused by heavy metal , air pollution and sound pollution;
(vii) of the conclusions drawn out of aforesaid investigations;
(viii) of the number of institutions against which legal actions have been instituted of disregarding the instructions, in terms of Central Environmental Authority Act?
(b) If not, why?
