Hon Premalal Jayasekara,—To ask the Minister of Disaster Management,—
(a) Will he state —
(i) whether he is aware of the reports that 630 houses have been damaged completely and 4608 houses have been damaged partially due to floods and the landslides that occurred in May 2017 in the district of Ratnapura;
(ii) whether suitable lands have been identified to re construct the damaged houses;
(iii) whether lands owned by the Estate Companies will be acquired for that; and
(iv) whether the existing laws will be amended to acquire those lands immediately?
(b) Will he also state—
(i) whether the government has decided a specific period of time to give compensation for the damaged houses;
(ii) whether compensation will be paid for all the houses that have been damaged; and
(iii) the criteria that will be taken into consideration when giving compensation for the damaged houses?
(c) If not, why?
