      Hon. Douglas Devananda,—To ask the Minister of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs,—

      (a) Is he aware that —

      (i) in the Kallaru village belonging to the Kandamalai Divisional Secretariat Division of the Kilinochchi District, a total of 243 houses comprising of 143 permanent houses built for those affected by Tsunami and 100 houses built for resettled families under various housing schemes have been constructed;

      (ii) only 186 houses out of the above mentioned houses are occupied at present and that no one is occupying the remaining 57 houses; and

      (iii) the people who are currently residing in the above village are faced with grave difficulties due to the lack of drinking water, decent transportation facilities and road repair activities;

      (b) Will he inform this House —

      (i) whether steps will be taken to develop the infrastructure facilities of the aforesaid village;

      (ii) if so, of the date on which it will be done; and

      (iii) whether action will be taken to offer the above mentioned unoccupied houses to families which do not have a house?

      (c) If not, why?
