Hon. Shehan Semasinghe,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs,—
(a) Will he inform this House whether permission has been granted to start a stone crushing plant at the Nawakkulama village in the Prabodagama Grama Niadhari Division No. 43 in the Medawachchiya Divisional Secretariat Division of the Anuradhapura District?
(b) Will he also inform this House, if so—
(i) the permit number of the stone crusher and the date on which it was issued;
(ii) the name of the applicant and the date of application; and
(iii) whether an environmental report has been obtained to issue the said permit?
(c) Will he further inform this House whether—
(i) comments of the people have been obtained before starting this stone crushing plant;
(ii) he is aware that people have protested against the said stone crushing plant; and
(iii) action will be taken to address the health and environmental issues that may arise as a result of starting this stone crushing plant?
(d) If not, why?
