Hon. S. Shritharan,— To ask the Minister of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs,—
(a) Is he aware—
(i) of the village of Muhamalai that belongs to Pachchilaipalli Divisional Secretariat Division in the Killinochchi District;
(ii) of the extent of the area of land and the population of that village; and
(iii) of the fact that landmines have been buried in that area, and of the persons who are providing financial assistance for the programme that is being implemented to demine that area?
(b) Will inform this House—
(i) of the period of time that will be taken to completely demine that area;
(ii) of the date on which those lands are expected to be handed over to the people enabling them to settle there; and
(iii) whether steps will be taken to provide those people with facilities such as resettlements and housing schemes?
(c) If not, why?
