Hon. T. Ranjith De Soyza,— To ask the Minister of Social Empowerment, Welfare and Kandyan Heritage,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of Samurdhi beneficiaries in the country by now;
(ii) separately, of the value of the aforesaid benefits; and
(iii) whether the government has taken a policy decision to reduce the number of Samurdhi beneficiaries who receive the Samurdhi benefits by now?
(b) Is he aware that—
(i) the name lists concerning the grant and the suspension of new Samurdhi benefits have been publicized in Grama Niladhari Division levels through Divisional Secretariats; and
(ii) there are impoverished and disabled people in the name lists which suspended the Samurdhi benefits ?
(c) Whether any other relief will be provided for them and if not, whether he will inform this House of the measures taken in that regard?
(d) If not, why?
