Hon. (Mrs.) Rohini Kumari Wijerathna,— To ask the Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of universities coming under the purview of the University Grants Commission;
(ii) whether he will submit a list of the aforesaid universities and the faculties affiliated to the said universities; and
(iii) the number of students studying in the aforesaid universities and the faculties at present?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether external degree courses are conducted in the aforesaid universities and faculties;
(ii) of the number of students who have got registered for external degree courses in each of the aforesaid universities and faculties, separately; and
(iii) of the fees charged by each university and faculty for external degree courses, separately?
(c) Will he further inform this House —
(i) of the accounts in which the amounts paid by the students who have got registered for external degree courses in each university and faculty are deposited;
(ii) of the present balances of the aforesaid accounts;
(iii) whether the amounts credited to the aforesaid accounts are coming under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance or Ministry of Higher Education or any other government institution; and
(iv) if so, what such institutions are?
(d) If not, why?
