Hon. Tharaka Balasuriya,— To ask the Minister of Highways & Road Development and Petroleum Resources Development,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the government has paid compensation to some residents for the lands acquired under the 3rd phase of the Kegalla bypass road;
(ii) a decision had been taken by the Land Acquisition Board of Review to pay Rs. 2,375,750/- for the land so acquired belonging to the Bogahalanda family residing at No. 145, Bandaranaike Mawatha, Kegalle; and
(iii) however they have hitherto not been paid the said compensation?
(b) Will he inform this House, whether he would consider this matter on sympathetic grounds and take action to pay the compensation entitled to them expeditiously as the father and brothers of the Bogahalanda family deceased and the only surviving members of the family are females?
(c) If not, why?
