Hon. Bimal Rathnayake,— To ask the Minister of Primary Industries and Social Empowerment,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the monthly allowance to be paid to senior citizens who have completed 70 years of age, for which allocations have been made, is Rs. 2000/- ;
(ii) an amount of Rs. 100/- is retained from the aforesaid amount of money with effect from January 2016; and
(iii) the officials have informed that the aforesaid amount of money which is retained as mentioned above is collected to an account named Social Security Fund?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he will take action to suspend the collection of the aforesaid amount from the allowance paid to the senior citizens due to protest made by them in that regard;
(ii) the amount of money that has been collected by now; and
(iii) the action that has been taken by now for the benefit of senior citizens out of the aforesaid amount of money?
(c) If not, why?
