Hon. S. Shritharan,— To ask the Minister of Finance,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) separately, in terms of each district, of the number of state banks, private banks, insurance companies, finance companies and micro finance companies which are operative in the Northern Province;
(ii) of their names; and
(iii) separately, of the interest rates charged by the state banks, private banks and micro finance companies in providing loans for the general public?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware that a lot of lives are lost due to the injustices caused by the unfair practices of the micro finance companies which are operative in the North and the Eastern provinces;
(ii) whether the government will intervene in monitoring the operations of aforesaid Micro Finance Companies in future in order to avoid such losses; and
(iii) of the intention of the micro finance companies in accelerating the operations targeting the people of the Northern and the Eastern provinces who lost their economic capabilities owing to the war?
(c) If not why?
