Hon. Udaya Prabath Gammanpila,— To ask the Minister of Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils & Local Government,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) in respect of each year separately, the number of persons of recent Indian origin who resided in Sri Lanka from 1948 to 1995 and obtained citizenship of this country;
(ii) in respect of each year for the period from 1948 to 1995, the number of persons of recent Indian origin who went to India after obtaining the Indian citizenship or to obtain the Indian citizenship under the Sirima – Shasthri agreement;
(iii) the number of Indians who resided in Sri Lanka from 1948 to 1995 and obtained the citizenship of Sri Lanka; and
(iv) the number of persons who resided in Sri Lanka from 1948 to 1995 and went to India after obtaining the Indian citizenship or to obtain the Indian citizenship?
(b) If not, why?
