Hon. Wimalaweera Dissanayaka,— To ask the Minister of Tourism Development, Wildlife and Christian Religious Affairs,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) there is widespread destruction of human lives and properties by wild elephants;
(ii) families have been rendered orphaned and destitute by such destruction of lives and properties; and
(iii) the payment of compensation for lives and properties so destroyed is continually delayed?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether action will be taken to make the payment of such compensation early; and
(ii) if so, the date whereon it will be done?
(c) If not, why?
