Hon. Hesha Withanage,— To ask the Minister of Industries,—
(a) Will he inform this House separately of the number of—
(i) industrial estates;
(ii) land units;
(iii) factories functioning in the industrial estates; and
(iv) employees employed in the industrial estates;
belonging to the Sri Lanka Industrial Development Board?
(b) Will he also inform this House separately of the—
(i) programmes conducted with a view to promoting self–employment;
(ii) locations where the said programmes were conducted;
(iii) equipment provided;
(iv) basis on which the beneficiaries were selected; and
(v) the technological training programmes conducted;
by the Sri Lanka Industrial Development Board for the Central Province in the year 2017?
(c) Will he further inform this House—
(i) will he admit that the people residing in the rural areas have not been provided with the required and sufficient knowledge, in spite of the possibility available for them to access business opportunities through internet facilities at present; and
(ii) whether action will be taken to provide the required knowledge in a methodical manner?
(d) If not, why?
