Hon. Harin Fernando,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) study leave is granted to students of leading schools who sit the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) examination ;
(ii) even though it is required to complete all lessons in the syllabus relating to students sitting the G.C.E.(Advanced Level) examination by the end of the term, teachers in charge of the relevant subjects conduct tuition classes during school hours ; and
(iii) as stated above, study leave has been granted to conduct such classes during school hours?
(b) Will he state as to who has approved the granting of study leave as mentioned above?
(c) Will he inform this House whether disciplinary action will be initiated upon inquiry into the teachers of government schools who grant study leave to students and conduct tuition classes for fees during school hours without teaching at school?
(d) If not, why
