Hon. Harin Fernando,— To ask the Minister of Environment,—
(a) Is he aware —
(i) that a quarry is run in a place which adjoins the land in which the Bogoda Rajamaha Viharaya, Which is a world heritage, and the historic Bogoda Wooden Bridge are situated ;
(ii) a serious environmental damage caused by the aforesaid quarry in the vicinity of the aforesaid sacred area ?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether, permission has been granted to run the above mentioned quarry ;
(ii) if so, the names of the persons who are responsible for the environmental damage caused to the aforesaid place of cultural importance ;
(iii) of the steps that will be taken to prevent the aforesaid environmental damage ?
(c) If not, why?
