Hon. Waruna Liyanage,— To ask the Minister of Transport,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether deeds of lease or any other legal titles have been granted to people who have been residing at the reservation of the Kelani Valley railway line from Awissawella to Opanayake approximately for the past five decades; and
(ii) if so, their number?
(b) Will he also inform this House whether there is a possibility of granting deeds of lease to other residents and owners of business premises who have thus not received deeds of lease or any other legal entitlement?
(c) If not, will he further inform this House whether it is expected to device a mechanism to ensure justice to those residents owners of business premises, to address problems encountered—
(i) in admitting their children to schools;
(ii) in obtaining business loans for their business; and
(iii) in claiming compensation in natural disasters?
(d) If not why?
