    1. 760/2020 Hon. Vadivel Suresh,— To ask the Minister of Highways,— (a) Is he aware that the then Minister of Highways submitted the Cabinet Memorandum No. 2004/10 dated 29.10.2004 titled Construction of a New Road from Badulla to Kandy, Which is Shorter than the Existing Road by 20 – 30 km, as an Alternative to the Existing Badulla – Kandy Road? (b) Will he inform this House— (i) whether approval has been granted through the aforesaid Cabinet Memorandum to construct the aforesaid road in two phases; (ii) of the extent of the aforesaid road of which the construction work has been completed by now; and (iii) is he aware that the construction work of the aforesaid road has been halted at present? (c) Will he also inform this House — (i) of the action that will be taken regarding noncompletion of the construction work of the aforesaid road, which had been identified as a major development project under the then development drive named ‘Sanwardana Sangramaya’; and (ii) of the steps that will be taken to provide road facilities to people by completing construction work of this road at least under a special project? (d) If not, why?
