Hon. Gamini Jayawickrama Perera,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) separately and on per year basis the number of Buddhist temples that existed in Sri Lanka from 2005 to 2010 ;
(ii) the names addresses and telephone numbers of those temples ;
(iii) the number of temples that existed in Sri Lanka from 1993 to 2005 ; and
(iv) separately and on per year basis, the number of temples without Chief incumbents during that period?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) the number of ordained monks that resided in the temples in Sri Lanka from 1993 to 2011 ;
(ii) the number of monks who disrobed during that period ;
(iii) separately the number of monks that disrobed in January, February and March, 2011 ; and
(iv) the reasons for disrobing?
(c) Will he state—
(i) the steps taken to develop the temples in the undeveloped areas ; and
(ii) whether steps will be taken to provide a sum of at least Rs. 5,000/- to temples in poor areas?
(d) If not, why ?
