Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of State Resources and Enterprise Development,—
(a) Is he aware that there is a move to sell Embilipitiya Paper Factory and the Sugar Factory of Kantale, to several foreign companies?
(b) Will he state—
(i) if so, the names of the companies to which those two institutions are expected to be sold and the countries to which such companies belong, separately ;
(ii) whether bids were called for the sale of such institutions ;
(iii) if so, the names of the companies that applied and the names of the countries to which they belong, separately ;
(iv) the bids, offered by each institution separately ; and
(v) the total income expected by the Government out of the sale of such institutions?
(c) Will he accept that the sale of the aforesaid institutions is in contravention of the declaration made in the Mahinda Chinthana Manifesto to the effect that state institutions would not be sold?
(d) If not, why?
