Hon. Abdul Haleem,— To ask the Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) out of the 35 Grama Niladhari Divisions of the Akurana Divisional Secretariat Division of the Kandy district, majority (95%) of the people in 20 Divisions use Tamil language;
(ii) despite above mentioned situation, only 06 Grama Niladhari who are capable of conducting duties in Tamil language work in the aforesaid Divisional Secretariat Division; and
(iii) 05 vacancies for Grama Niladharies exist in the relevant Division at present?
(b) Will he state—
(i) whether action will be taken to fill the above mentioned vacancies for Grama Niladharis;
(ii) whether action will be taken to recruit officers who are capable of conducting duties in Tamil language to Akurana Divisional Secretariat Division when new Grama Niladhari appointments are given and attach them to the relevant Grama Niladhari Divisions?
(c) If not, why?
