Hon. Tissa Attanayake,— To ask the Minister of Environment,—
(a) Will he admit that—
(i) the monthly capacity of the 152 compost yards registered by the Central Environmental Authority by 2021 is 18514 metric tons, they remain underutilized failing to achieve the expected monthly capacity; and
(ii) the Central Environmental Authority had not taken action to check the quality of the compost of 84 compost yards out of the aforesaid number according to standard No.1246 of Sri Lanka Standards Institute?
(b) Will he inform this House of—
(i) the future plans prepared to operate at maximum capacity the underutilized yards among the said compost yards mentioned in (a) (i) above;
(ii) the reasons for it, if there are no future plans;
(iii) the reasons for the absence of follow up on checking the quality of compost as mentioned in (a) (ii) above; and
(iv) the measures that will be taken to avoid the occurrence of such situations in future?
(c) If not, why?
