Hon. Upul Mahendra Rajapaksha,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether a decision has been taken only to recruit graduates for teaching profession in the future;
(ii) if so, whether a teacher training will be provided to the above mentioned graduates; and
(iii) whether their English knowledge, sports and aesthetic skills will be considered when the said graduates are recruited?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether steps will be taken to amend the existing syllabi into a career/profession oriented education system;
(ii) whether teachers will be recruited for vocational training to provide vocational education for school children; and
(iii) whether steps will be taken to open a discussion to seek public opinion on Educational reforms?
(c) If not, why?
