    1. 1673/2023

      Hon. Charles Nirmalanathan,— To ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs,—

      (a) Is he aware that—

      (i) thousands of Tamil people who lived in the Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka, migrated to India owing to the situation of war that prevailed in Sri Lanka and stay within and outside camps there;

      (ii) nearly 100,000 people out of the above people are unable to return to Sri Lanka, even though the war is over now; and

      (iii) owing to the refusal of the Indian government to grant Visa to most of the people out of the above mentioned people who live in places outside the camps, they have to pay Visa charges for the entire period they lived in India when they return to Sri Lanka?

      (b) Will he inform this House of the measures to be taken to bring back the above-mentioned people to Sri Lanka?

      (c) If not, why?
