Hon. (Mrs) Vijayakala Maheswaran,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the revision of salaries and allowances of the teachers in the Sri Lanka Teachers Service has not been done as per the Budget Proposals of 2011 to do so and Public Administration Circular No. 28/2010 issued thereupon ; and
(ii) the teachers have not been placed on the proper salary steps, to date, according to their academic and professional qualifications?
(b) Will he state—
(i) whether any circular has been sent recently to the Zonal Education Offices giving instructions on revision of salaries and placing the teachers on proper salary steps; and
(ii) if not, whether necessary action will be taken to rectify the situation pertaining to the revision of teachers’ salaries ?
(c) If not. why?
