Hon. Rajiva Wijesinha,— To ask the Minister of Child Development and Women’s Affairs,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) a purported orphanage is run in the house called ‘Rajapoopathy Maaligai’ at Old Police Station Lane in Chavakachcheri, which belonged to the family of former MP for Chavakachcheri Mr. V.N. Navaratnam; and
(ii) the said house is used by another party for running the orphanage without proper agreement with its real owners?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) as of how many orphans are now housed in aforesaid premises;
(ii) whether the aforesaid premises are subjected to the inspection by the authorities; and
(iii) whether there is no abuse of any child in that orphanage?
(c) If not, why?
