Hon. Lalith Ellawala,— To ask the Minister of Transport and Highways,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware of the fact that all the lands have been acquired for the construction of the Ruwanpura Expressway by now;
(ii) if so, whether the payment of compensation to the aforesaid land owners has been completed;
(iii) of the total amount of compensation paid;
(iv) the date on which the above compensation will be paid, if they have not been compensated yet;
(v) whether the said lands will be reassessed based on the current market value, in a situation where the land owners face severe injustices as the assessment value of the government is far below the current market value of the said lands as per the calculations of compensation done for the acquired lands; and
(vi) if so, of the date on which it will be done?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether there is a procedure to handover the remaining extent to the land owner after proper demarcation, in the instances where only a portion of a particular land is acquired; and
(ii) if so, of the aforesaid procedure adopted?
(c) If not, why?
