Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara,— To ask the Minister of External Affairs,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware that a group including Mrs. Nanda Malini, a songstress, were subjected to special checking by the security personnel of the State of Kuwait on their arrival in that country on 01.02.2012;
(ii) if so, of the reasons for subjecting them to such checking;
(iii) whether any suspicious matter has been discovered in her possession or in the possession of her troop or whether any clue has been found regarding the possession of such matters during that checking;
(iv) whether the Government of Sri Lanka has carried out an investigation regarding the aforesaid incident;
(v) whether inquiries have been made at diplomatic level in that regard;
(vi) if this checking has been done on false information, whether the party that furnished such false information has been identified; and
(vii) if so, whether their details will be submitted ?
(b) Will he state the measures taken by the government regarding the embarassment caused to Mrs. Nanda Malini ?
(c) If not, why?
