Hon. Dharmapriya Dissanayake,—To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education,— (1)
(a) Will she inform this House —
(i) whether any form of regulating is in place regarding the private tuition classes that are conducted targeting the G.C.E. (O/L) and the G.C.E. (A/L) Examinations;
(ii) if not, of the reasons for not regulating them;
(iii) whether she is aware of the teachers who conduct the above-mentioned private tuition classes and of their educational qualifications;
(iv) if not, of the reasons for not being aware of such information;
(v) whether she is aware that private tuition classes are conducted at present targeting the G.C.E. (O/L) and the G.C.E. (A/L) Examinations from 8.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on school days;
(vi) whether appropriate action will be taken regarding conducting of the tuition classes concerned above;
(vii) if not, of the reasons for not taking action regarding it; and
(viii) of the steps that will be taken regarding the adverse impact that is caused to government schools due to conducting of private tuition classes as mentioned in (v) above?
(b) If not, why?
