Hon. Rohitha Abeygunawardhana,— To ask the Minister of Energy,— (1)
(a) Will he state—
(i) the number of regional offices of Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB);
(ii) whether there are adequate employees in those offices;
(iii) the number of engineers required for those offices;
(iv) whether above number of engineers are available;
(v) if not, the number of engineering vacancies existing;
(vi) whether new engineers will be recruited; and
(vii) if so, the measures taken in that regard?
(b) Will he also state—
(i) the sources of electricity generation;
(ii) units currently generated through each such source, separately;
(iii) whether the CEB will be privatized; and
(iv) if so, the measures to be taken regarding the employees?
(c) Will he further state—
(i) the strategic programmes/projects initiated by the companies under the CEB;
(ii) the number of employees currently working in each such company, separately;
(iii) whether there are excess employees in those companies;
(iv) if so, the number of excess employees in each company, separately; and
(v) the areas covered by the LECO?
(d) If not, why?
