Hon. Dharmapriya Dissanayake,—To ask the Minister of Justice and National Integration,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of inmates who are currently detained in Sri Lankan prisons;
(ii) of the number of inmates who are scheduled to be released after a detention period of 20 years out of the said prisoners;
(iii) whether those prisoners will be released after the completion of the period of 20 years; and
(iv) if not, of the reasons for it?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) of the number of prisoners who have been imprisoned for long periods, being unable to pay fines, apart from the inmates referred to above;
(ii) whether a fair and systematic methodology will be followed regarding them;
(iii) if so, of that procedure; and
(iv) if not, of the reasons for it?
(c) If not, why?
