Hon. R. M. Ranjith Madduma Bandara,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) the percentage of students that gets qualified to persue higher education out of nearly forty three lakhs of school children ;
(ii) whether he admits the fact that this percentage is at a minimum level when compared to other countries of the world ;
(iii) separately, the amounts of money spent on education during the last twenty years except in the year 2012, as a percentage of the Gross Domestic Revenue in each year ; and
(iv) the amount of money spent on education by the government in the year 2012, as a percentage of the Gross Domestic Revenue?
(b) Will he admit that—
(i) seeking monetary contributions from parents for school education has become a common practice now ; and
(ii) the reason for that is the government’s failure to allocate adequate funds for education?
(c) If not, why ?
