Hon. Buddhika Pathirana;— To ask the Minister of Lands and Land Development,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the lands, which have been transferred under “Swarnabhoomi” deeds, situated closer to Japanese Peace Pagoda of Roomassala, Galle that has been built overlooking the international shipping route, have been purchased by businessmen and apartments are built for hotels in the guise of construction of houses; and
(ii) the people of the area make allegations that the government officials, too, are involved with the transfer of the aforesaid lands, which carries “Swarnabhoomi” deeds that can not be transferred or sold to a person other than a relation, to the businessmen?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether steps will be taken to conduct a formal inquiry with regard to the aforesaid transfer of lands;
(ii) whether steps will be taken to avert construction of hotels that is done in a manner which causes damages to Peace Pagoda, in the aforesaid lands; and
(iii) if so, of the date on which it will be done?
(c) If not, why?
