Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Mass Media and Information,—
(a) Will he inform this House of —
(i) the number of complaints received with regard to harassment caused to journalists during the period from the year 2005 up to the time when a Ministers’ sub-committee was appointed in the year 2008 to look into the harassment caused to journalists;
(ii) the number of journalists who have been abducted or assaulted up to now since the appointment of the aforesaid Ministers’ sub-committee; and
(iii) the steps taken by the government regarding the aforesaid acts?
(b) If not, why?
