Hon. Ajith P. Perera,— To ask the Minister of Justice—
(a) Will he state—
(i) the number of full-time members of the Sri Lanka Judges Institute;
(ii) separately, the amounts of money spent by that Institution in the years 2010, 2011 and 2012; and
(iii) whether an investment has been made by the government to improve the quality of Judges in Sri Lanka?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware of the fact that a decision had been taken while Hon. Athauda Seneviratne was the Minister of Justice to establish a university level institution to train Judges similar to the system prevailing in countries like India and Malaysia;
(ii) whether he is in agreement with the idea of establishing a university level institution to train Judges; and
(iii) if so, the steps that would be taken in that regard?
(c) If not, why?
