Hon. Dunesh Gankanda,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs,—
(a) Will he inform this House of the—
(i) criteria considered in selecting suitable persons to grant the allowance of 750 rupees , which was proposed to be given to the parents of war heroes by the Budget of 2012;
(ii) number of parents of war heroes who have been entitled to the aforesaid allowance by now; and
(iii) division of the number of war heroes in terms of the Army, Navy and the Air Force, whose parents were entitled to the aforesaid allowance, separately?
(b) Will he state—
(i) whether he admits that even though one year has lapsed since the parents of the police officers who are qualified to receive the aforesaid allowance opened bank accounts on a notice given by the Department of Police , the aforesaid allowance has not been credited into the accounts up to now;
(ii) if so , whether steps will be taken to grant the aforesaid allowance even to the parents of police officers; and
(iii) the period of time that will be taken for it?
(c) If not , why?
