Hon. Ashok Abeysinghe,— To ask the Minister of Highways, Higher Education and Investment Promotion,—
(a) Will he inform this house—
(i) of the number of garment factories that existed in the country by the years 1994, 2005 and 2013, separately;
(ii) of the number of garment factories that had been set up in Kurunegala District during the period from the year 2005 up to 2013; and
(iii) whether the government implements any programme for the welfare of the employees of the garment factories located in the investment promotion zones?
(b) If not, why?
