      Hon.   Abdul Haleem,— To ask the Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs,—

      (a) Is he aware that—

      (i) 70 % of the population in Akurana Divisional Secretariat Division in the Kandy District is comprised of Tamil speaking people; and

      (ii) the Divisional Secretary, the Assistant Divisional Secretary and the majority of the officers of the executive grades working at Akurana Divisional Secretariat are not capable of working in Tamil language?

      (b) Will he state—

      (i) the number of officers working at Akurana Divisional Secretariat at present who are capable of working in Tamil language; and

      (ii) whether action will be taken to appoint to the aforesaid Divisional Secretariat, a Divisional Secretary who is capable of working in Tamil language?

      (c) If not, why?
