Hon. (Mrs.) Anoma Gamage,— To ask the Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) the areas where the jaggery palm cultivation is prevalent in abundance in Sri Lanka;
(ii) the number, engaged in the jaggery palm cultivation and obtain income from jaggery palm related products;
(iii) whether the jaggery palm cultivation is conducted at field/estate level by the individuals engaged in the said cultivation;
(iv) the measures that have been taken in view of developing the jaggery palm cultivation;
(v) whether action will be taken to popularize jaggery palm products overseas; and
(vi) if so, what those programmes are?
(b) Will he table—
(i) the names of the jaggery palm related products;
(ii) whether the relevant annual productions have been evaluated;
(iii) if so, what those quantities are; and
(iv) separately on the basis of each post, the number of public sector employees engaged in jaggery palm cultivation and related industries?
(c) Will he also state—
(i) the amount of money spent by the government for the payment of salaries and other allowances of the aforesaid public servants annually; and
(ii) the income received by the government from jaggery palm products industry?
(d) If not, why?
