      Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Education,—

      (a) Is he aware that —

      (i) M/Morawaka Buddhist Maha Vidyalaya administered by the Deniyaya zonal education office in the Matara District was a school selected to be developed under the project to develop 5000 primary schools;

      (ii) the estimated expenditure of the project relevant to developing the aforesaid school is Rs. 625,471.43;

      (iii) the community contribution in that regard is Rs. 135,471.43; and

      (iv) the Pitabeddara Divisional Secretariat has made a payment of Rs. 490,000/= for the aforesaid project by now?

      (b) Will he inform this House—

      (i) whether he is aware that the principal of the M/Morawaka Buddhist Maha Vidyalaya has taken action to charge Rs. 1000/= from each student under the pretext that Rs. 700000/= has been spent for the above mentioned project;

      (ii) whether a principal is vested in any authority to collect money in that manner;

      (iii) whether any action has been taken pertaining to the collection of the aforesaid money; and

      (iv) whether action will be taken to carry out a proper investigation in that regard, if such authority is not vested with a principal?

      (c) If not, why?
