Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Will he state —
(i) the legal procedure pertaining to the closure of a government school; and
(ii) the punishments that can be imposed upon and other measures that can be taken against a person who behaves contravening that methodology?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware that the authorities including the then Minister of Education of the Southern Province have taken action to close down the Dhammakusala Vidyalaya of Ambalangoda in the Galle District prior to dissolving the Southern Provincial Council in January 2014;
(ii) of the reasons that have been submitted by the authorities with relevance to the closure of the aforesaid school;
(iii) whether the closure of the aforesaid school has been legally performed; and
(iv) if not, the measures that have been taken against the relevant officers?
(c) Will he also state—
(i) the reasons for not taking action to provide facilities required for the functioning of Dhammakusala Vidyalaya of Ambalangoda further as it is more important to protect a school than to close down a school; and
