Hon. (Mrs.) Anoma Gamage,— To ask the Minister of Power and Energy,—
(a) Will she table this House —
(i) of the number of small hydroelectric power stations currently operating in the Island; and
(ii) separately the districts and the locations of those power stations, the names of watercourses connected to those power stations and the capacity of those power stations which are connected to the national grid?
(b) Will he state —
(i) whether small hydro-electric power stations which are operated under the government are also included in the aforesaid power stations;
(ii) if so, the names of such power stations;
(iii) the procedure that is adopted in granting approval for small hydro-electric power stations of the private sector;
(iv) whether follow-up action will be taken to assess the impact that is caused to the environment by the construction of such power stations; and
(v) if so, the manner in which such action is taken?
(c) If not, why?
