Hon. Sunil Handunnetti,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the criterion for selecting students to the National Colleges of Education;
(ii) if the only criterion used in this regard is the Z score secured at the G.C.E (Advanced Level) examination, whether he admits that an injustice is caused to students as a result of adopting a very high Z score for students from the districts where less students are enrolled and a very low Z score for students from the districts where more students are enrolled as the threshold in enrolling students under the district basis; and
(iii) if so, whether action will be taken to do away with this injustice?
(b) If not, why?
